Makeup Academy (MUA) - Eyeshadow Palette - Heaven And Earth

Hello Lovelies!

So whilst shopping in Superdrug the other day I came across a hidden gem ~ the MUA Heaven and Earth Palette. I have always been a neutral eye shadow kind of gal so when I saw these colours I knew that this was the palette for me. I have been interested and almost bought the Naked 2 palette (and might still buy) but this.....this is just amazing. It has a set of twelve eye shadows in a range of colours: Gold's to Creams to Browns to Purples. Absolutely stunning. I am in love. I seem to say that about everything don't I?

It has extremley simple packaging, a black rim with the logo in silver writing in the centre. The middle part has a clear lid so you can clearly see and identify each colour. It clasps in the centre at the front and when you open it you get not only the twelve eye shadows but a brush in its own little compartment - woo! It is also super handbag friendly. It fits in my smallest clutch bag - perfect for night time emergencies girls... ain't I right?

The colours are perfect. They all have a slight shimmer to them which I love but it's not for everyone. Most of the colours are very highly pigmented but some of the lighter shades need a couple of coats but all in all the shades are extremely opaque.

Overall this is possibly the best - for it's price - Neutral palette that I have ever come across. It's cheap as chips at £3.99 from Superdrug and a great addition to everyone's makeup bag.

Healthy Breakfast | Fruity and Fun!

Hello Lovelies!

A big hassle in life for me is finding the balance between healthy and hefty. I am very happy with my size 8/10 but I don't want that to change. However, I am not willing, as a complete chocoholic, to give up all the bad for you goodies....

So I decided instead of changing my snacks out of my routine that I would change them up. A good way to pacify my sweet tooth is by eating fruit therefore my most recent breakfast has been this fruity and fun cocktail (not an actual cocktail - alcohol is not a good breakfast option children)

Here goes!

What You'll Need

7 Strawberries
7 Raspberries
12 Black Grapes
1 Kiwi
1 Banana
1 Apple
1 Nectarine
A knife
A chopping board
and finally a plate

Method

1. Wash all fruit.
2. Take apple and slice continue to chop into little chunks
3. Do the same with the nectarine
4. Continue onto the banana and slice it
5. Take the kiwi and skin it then chop into little chunks
6. Take the tops off of the strawberries then cut into quarters. Then add all fruit into bowl and your finished!

Too Bold? H&M Lipstick

Hello Lovelies!

As you'll know from this post I am not a big fan of bold makeup so I have no idea what was going through my head when I bought this lipstick...

It's H&M's 'Kiss Me Red' A very cute name if I say do say so myself. But its definitely way, way, way out of my comfort zone. The consistency is super good and it is a really creamy formula but I don't know if it is something I could wear.

The staying power of this product is absolutely unbelievable. It lasts like forever - No exaggeration. I have worn this a couple of times - only whilst running errands, I'm not brave enough to wear this on a night out - and I will put it o in the morning and I will struggle trying to get it off before bed! The colour does fade slightly but for £2.99 this product is to die for.

One thing I would complain just a tiny little bit about is that is it a wee bit drying so you really need to use a lip balm first and how could you not love it when it comes in such adorable packaging?

Overall I really love this product I am just a bit scared to use it. Do you like bold colours? Are red lips your cup of tea?

How To Blog!

Hello Lovelies!

As you know I'm fairly new to blogging and I am in no way an expert or anything to that degree but  have had a shocking.....four blogs prior to this one - which all failed miserably. This made me think that if there was a handy guide somewhere on the interweb at the tie I had started my first blog it possibly would have done better? Surely once you are onto your fifth blog you must have picked up some tips.......or at least some major don't does. So yeah, I'll get started and stop rambling!

Tips!

1. This is the first and probably most important tip - write what YOU want to write. There is no point writing about something that you saw Tanya Burr, Sprinkle Of Glitter or Zoella post last week if it doesn't interest you.

2. That brings me quite nicely onto my next tip which is never copy someone else's material or ideas. Blogs - No matter how serious or how not serious they are have a main purpose which is enjoyment. There is nothing fun about stealing someone's hard work. It is also nicer to see your own ideas 'come to life' in a post and that way (if you use your own material) you can have pride in your finished product.

3. Find a style - This sounds like a weird one. A style? What does that mean? By style I don't mean how you dress. Your writing style is personal to you. Some people write as if they are talking to friends and others as f they are in an interview. It takes time to find your writing style so be patient....I still haven't found mine!

4. Keep to a schedule, this sounds easy but trust me it's not. You will have to post regularly, no one likes willy-nilly posts all over the shop. Regularity attracts new readers.

5. Another important one is don't spam other peoples blogs. Commenting with things such as 'follow my blog' '100 followers and I'll do a giveaway' or whatever does not attract new readers it does the opposite. These comments will probably be marked as spam and your account could be reported so don't be silly.

6. Get an notebook. This really helped me. I have an A5 notebook that I carry around everywhere with me (alongside my camera.) It is extremely helpful if a blog post comes into your mind or just little ideas. AND, they look super cute!

7. My last tip is HAVE FUN. The blogging community is a fun and safe environment to share your ideas and interests. It's not about having the best blog it's about having your best blog.

Essentials!

1. Laptop
2.Camera
3.Notebook
4.Comfy Cushion
5. A Drink

Exciting News!

Hello Lovelies!

Now you may think you are going mad, I mean, two posts in one day? Can it be real? Well it is and it's all very exciting!

You might have realised already if you've read this blog before that the design has changed drastically - it's no longer drab and dreary but bright and bold! Woo!

The most exciting news though is........... I have a SHOP!!!!!! It was only created tonight but I love the sleek and stylish look it has. If you click on the page which says shop on this blog it will take you straight there. It only has four items just now but I am hoping to increase the diversity of products I sell. Please have a wee look over there and tell me what you think!

I hope you enjoyed this quick surprise post! Love you all!

Nail Polish - Oh Boy You're So Fine

Hello Lovelies!

When on holiday I may have bought a few okay not so few bits and bobs but as a beauty blogger I can't resist a few beauty related purchases especially a few nail varnishes to the bargain. The ones I recently fell in love with were the Rimmel 60 second nail varnishes. I have a fair few but my most recent purchase will be my go to Summer into Autumn polish.

Rimmel's It's your bog-standard purple with a twist - it has a slight greyish-blue undertone to it. It is so beautiful and suits a paler skin tone and a tanned skin tone I suppose but I love the look of it against my porcelain coloured skin. It is so pretty and I get lots of compliments while wearing it.

Ooh fancy wee window ledge photography there Emma?
The quality of these Rimmel nail polishes is extremely surprising - for the price I mean. With a RRP of 2.99 these polishes are not to be sneezed at. The colour payoff? Well, what can I say except for AMAZING? I genuinely can't think of any  other words to describe it. You can wear this nail polish with just one coat and it is quite opaque. Great if you only have five minutes! Two coats and it is completely opaque and doesn't streak or leave stroke marks - my absolute pet peeve when it comes to painting my nails. Oh, and it dries in sixty seconds, could you ask for more? I think not.

This nail polish is definitely going to be a favourite this September I think. What have your favourite polishes been of late? Have you tried this one or any from the Rimmel sixty second range? What are your favourites? I'd love to buy some more.

Bye! X

Slip out of Summer #1

Hello Lovelies!

I'll be honest I need some stability with things and at the end of a busy school week, my brain is so frazzled it's hard to think of something new to blog about and who doesn't love security? Knowing exactly what to expect. I certainly do - most of the time.

That's why each Friday for the foreseeable future - or however long this amuses me for I will have a little series on this blog... Slip out of Summer. What is Slip out of Summer Emma? Well, no need to fret my lovelies I am about to tell you. It is a little fashion series where I will show you how to incorporate your favourite, staple summer pieces into your 'new' Autumn Wardrobe. Woo! So with that I'll get started on the first post of the series!

Shorts & Snuggles!

One of the most worn items for me this Summer has to have been my High waisted army green shorts from Primark. I got these 'bum boosters' (I call them this as they give you a nice Nikki Minaj bum) back in June and if I remember correctly I only paid around £8 for them or around that price. They are super comfy and I absolutely love the gold buttons down the front. So cute.

I loved pairing them with a baggy tee - just tucking in the front of the tee which I thought gave it an almost 'bo-ho' look. I kept this in mind when deciding how to rock these into the Autumn. My biggest tip for transferring your perfect shorts into Autumn is definitely add tights. This gives them a more cosy look and also keeps you warm.

All I did was add a thick pair of black tights from Next - I really love the quality from there. I then Pulled over them a plain old pair of grey socks which just peeked over the top of my little black ankle boots. This look is super cute and girly. On my top half I put on a black tank top under my thick grey jumper from new look. Love this jumper it has a round neck and is super warm. I kept my accessories simple - A black gem stoned bracelet and a small pair of white pearl studs.

That's it my Shorts & Snuggles look. I really hope you liked it, if you recreate this look please feel free to post me a nice wee pic on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #SlipoutofSummer and I'll be sure to have a look and like, comment and share your pics!

Hectic Hospital Times!

Hello Lovelies!

So you may have realised if you have been a special little reader of this blog that I have not been keeping up with my posting schedule (Everyday except Sunday) the last five or six days. I can't even remember - the days have all blurred into each other.

It's all a bit of a whirlwind to be honest but I'll try and explain it all. This post will probably be quite rambly so please bear with me. If you prefer the beauty review type posts and not chatty ones I suggest you click the 'X' button now......

Well now the only ones (if any) reading this are ones who like these kind of posts. Cheer for chatty posts!! So lets start at the beginning shall we? It seems like a good place to start. So two weeks ago past Wednesday at about six o'clock at night I felt a sudden very sharp pain in the right hand side of my tummy. I told my mum but she said that it was probably growing pains or something of the sort and basically to 'suck it up' Anyway I went to bed and got up the next morning for school - the pain was still there later on that night.

My mum then decided that the best option would be to go and see my GP. I went in and he told me that it was muscular to which I strongly disagreed. He wrote me up for Ibuprofen and Codeine which did not touch the pain at all. Which - may I just add is not normal. Later on that night we phoned up NHS 24 and explained the situation - they booked me an out of hours appointment and before I knew it I was in the waiting room listening out for my name.

In a matter of what seemed like minutes (which is all it must have been) I was called through to see the on call Emergency Department GP. He took me into a room and asked me hundreds upon hundreds of questions. He then did what they call the 'rebound test' where they hit and release quickly to see how you react - needless to say I almost hit the roof (literally) He had me admitted extremely quickly but after three days of blood tests and urine samples I was told it was nothing more than mid-cycle pains and sent me home.

I then later on in the week hit my period and ended up finishing it with the continuation of the constant pain. I went back to school on the Monday back again on the Tuesday but at lunch my pain had got worse so I was headed back to the hospital where I once again was admitted, however this time I was under a different surgical team and had another cannula in my hand.

They took me for an ultra sound and the next day before I could say 'Project Sunshine' I was being knocked out and operated on. When I woke up I had no appendix and no pain. Well obviously I had the surgery pain but the constant pain which I had for two and a half weeks was gone.

I am so thankful to all the nurses, doctors, cleaners and everyone who was at all involved with my treatment, I will never be able to thank you enough. If it wasn't for you all then I wouldn't be able to sit here and type this post and update my blog. Thank you so, so, so much, I will be ever grateful and happy that those awful two weeks are behind me.

I apoagise that this wasn't the normal for this blog, usual posts and schedules will be back to normal. Thank you for being supportive. I love you to the moon and back lovelies!

New Look - New Dress

Hello Lovelies!

So as I recently had good news - I passed my Media Exam and got an 'A' - My mum took me shopping and the bill went onto her bank account and not mine...BONUS!! We went into lots of different shops: Primark, Topshop, H&M and some others but apart from a few little purchases I couldn't find what I wanted. I then remembered that I had to get a dress for a charity ball/disco I had been invited to. That's when I went into New Look. They had a huge sale on, and to my delight, most of the items on sale were dresses! Woo! I found three I really liked and..... I ended up with three dresses! Woops! I couldn't choose. I love them all. I'll have to make a decision before Saturday night...

Midnight Blue Ballroom Dress

This dress instantly caught my eye because of the colour - It is gorgeous. It is very flowy and elegant, very fairy-tale like.

Black and White Bodycon Dress

This is not a dress I would have went for last year but since loosing weight and having more confidence in myself this dress became automatically appealing. It has beautiful silver sequins all over it. Love, love, love.

Black Graphic Bodycon Dress

This did not appeal to me on the hanger but after trying it on I fell in love. It is so different. The graphic panel is just so...Strange (a good strange)

These are my Choices. Its so Hard to choose. I think the Black and White dress is in the lead, but the other two... Thanks New Look.

Body Shop Love Etc Body Butter

Hello Lovelies!

Hello my name is Emma and I am a Body Butter hoarder. Its a serious addiction. Every time the Body Shop brings out a new body butter or the slightest scent of a sale - I'll be there browsing the isles and filling my arms until they are about to break. My most recent obsession from them is Love Etc...

It is in the most delightful of packaging ~ A white circular tub with a screw on lid. On the Lid there are thousands (ok maybe that's a slight exaggeration) of multi-coloured love hearts. It is amazing. Woohoo!

Ooohhh Fancy, Fancy....

The product itself is - as all Body Shop products are - Fabulous. This one is no exception. It is so thick, creamy and extremely easy to rub into your skin. It only takes about five minutes to sink into the skin. It brings back added moisture to the skin and helps reduce redness however as far as my testing goes it does not improve blemishes. I have to use a separate treatment for that. It is a very luxurious cream and I think it is more of a night time cream rather than a morning cream as it is something that works better over a long period of time. Its a nice treat after a bath or shower at night.

Overall It is an amazing buy and at £12.99 RRP it is an absolute steal. What is your favourite Body Shop Product???

Base Makeup

Hello Lovelies!
I have never been one for bold makeup (see what I did there?) I'm not big on bright colours and out there eyeliner designs. I like to stick to a neutral makeup look, with minimum eye makeup. Focusing mainly on my base makeup and getting that 'flawless/perfect skin' look that everyone desires.
Well Loved - Especially the concealer

So I usually start off with foundation - my new found love is a drugstore one. It is the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 001 Ivory. I am absolutely 100% in love with this foundation. It has a very creamy consistency and is quite jewie look on the skin however it does not look oily. It really gives your skin that woken up feel. If you are like me and are whiter than Edward Cullen and find it extremely difficult to find a foundation that matches your skin tone then you should definitely have a little snoop at the match perfection range next time you fancy a trip to Boots.

The next step in my base makeup routine is concealer - My one true love has to be the one, the only..... Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, oh my goodness. This tiny little product is a lifesaver. It blends beautifully, doesn't crease and lasts ages. Like seriously? I don't know how I lived without it. It is just amazing. A must have if you have spent half the night reading blogs...woops!

The final step in my every morning quest for perfect looking skin is powder. This is a must for me. I mean girl, no one wants you all oilin' up the place, do they? No. That's where the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder comes in. As you may have guessed from the title it gives a matte finish to the skin which is not everyone's cup of tea, including my own. I do not, for this reason, apply this all over my skin. I just apply it to my T zone, or problem areas on the day.

That's it, My drugstore guide to the perfect base makeup. Are you a base makeup fan? Do you prefer big bold colours?

Autumn Ambitions

Hello Lovelies!

As we are slowly leaving Summer, which is making me extremely sad - watching the nights get shorter and feeing the colder weather coming in. However that does not mean I am not looking forward to Autumn because I am. I am looking forward to...

Cosy Nights In
Movie Nights
More Costa
Hot Chocolate
Sweater Weather
Autumn Shopping
Parties
Knee High Socks
Boots
More Starbucks
Hoodies
Tights
Autumn Walks
And So Much More

These things are great things about Autumn but one of the best things for me is the fact that a new season can be a new start in my opinion. Usually at the end of each season I will write down a list of things I hope to achieve from the new season. I was sitting with a bit of a mind blank as of what to post until I thought why not share it on here? Then what I have decided that I'll do is that at the end of every season I will go through everything I hoped to achieve and see if I succeeded at all/any of them.

1.Organise - This season this is a must. I am not the world's most organised person and I feel it makes me extremely stressed and it is not a good way to work. It is not very useful if you are trying to find things in the morning and your desk is an absolute bombsite it is not very easy to find what your looking for. Another part of organising will be uploading on this blog everyday - ooh big challenge there Emma...

2.Be Positive - This is something that recently I have been trying to live by. However, I am going to put this 'motto' into full gear this season. I think this will have a big impact on my life as I am a huge believer that positivity breeds positivity. Who doesn't want positivity?

3.Be The Best Me - This does not mean changing myself. I am not saying that I am going to become a whole new person, no. I am just going to be the best me. This means trying harder, being more positive as I said above and just a 'nicer' person.

So these are my aspirations for Autumn. I will do a post at the end of Autumn do review how I think I did. Do you like this kind of post? Its quite fun to do actually.

Bye! X

Starbucks Stawberry and Creme Frappuccino Dupe?

Hello Lovelies!

So whilst I have been sitting around sick, bored to death I decided I wanted something nice to drink. I went through to the kitchen and couldn't find anything I liked wanted. My body then decided that it was more in the mood for a Starbucks - a Strawberry and Crème Frappuccino to be precise. Barely having the will to live never mind head to Starbucks, I needed a solution to this problem.......
make my own one! Surprisingly it turned out alright, like all dupes it wasn't as good as what it aspired to be but for a first attempt it wasn't bad.

What You Will Need:

Strawberries - 20-ish
Milk - 200ml
Whipped Cream
Vanilla Ice Cream - Two Scoops
Ice Cubes - 4 or 5
Sugar - One and a half tablespoons
Blender
Glass
Straw

Method:

1. Put Ice Cubes into blender and milk and add about 10 strawberries and blend on the highest setting.
2. Take remaining Strawberries and Sugar in a pan and heat until a syrup like formula, and allow to cool down.
3. Add Vanilla Ice Cream to the Smoothie mixture and put a three second squirt into the mixture and blend again at the lowest setting - this keeps the mix nice and thick.
4. Once the syrup has cooled down, add syrup to the bender and bend on lowest setting - it  tastes even better if not all the syrup is blended.
5.Pour into Glass, top with Whipped Cream - lots of it and garnish with one strawberry on the rim of the glass.

And that's it, easy right? If you try these out tell me how good it is and everything else. Think I might go have some just now....mmm!

Bye! X
